Hope you are enjoying your winter break! Here are some reminders and updates for assignments due when you arrive in DC:
- Constructive Dialogue Institute – to get full credit for this assignment, you need to complete the two available lessons. Since they cannot be retaken, the score you get on them does not affect your grade for the assignment (but obviously, please read all of the presented information carefully and try your best).
- Educational Philosophy – the rubric is available on the class website (https://urbaned2024.pages.wm.edu/assignments/).
- Reading – reminder that you are expected to have read The Death and Life of the Great American School System: How Testing and Choice Are Undermining Education by Diane Ravitch by the time we meet in DC.
More details for the final project will be shared after Christmas.
For attire, you will be expected to dress business causal every day that you are in DC except Saturday 1/6 and Sunday 1/7; these two days you can dress casually. Please reference Sarah’s recent email for what attire constitutes business casual. You can also find the presentation she made on the class website (https://urbaned2024.pages.wm.edu/dress-code-guidance/).
Some more reminders for attire:
- Bring warm clothes since it will likely be cold outside, and be prepared in case of rain/snow.
- For folks staying in the hotel, there are washers and dryers, but you have to pay to use them.
- If you have any questions about attire, feel free to contact Sarah (her cell number was in a recent email), Dr. Johnson, or myself.
Let me know if you have any questions. I am most accessible by text at (302) 482-5772, but I also check my email regularly.
